Silver of the Stars, the collection of contemporary Scottish silver commissioned by the Incorporation of Goldsmiths continues to showcase the diversity and skill of Scottish silversmiths both nationally and internationally. Since being unveiled in 2007, Silver of the Stars has travelled almost 30,000 miles around the world and been seen by almost three quarters of a million visitors in cities including Beijing, Kyoto, New York, San Francisco and London.
2012-13 will see the collection exhibited across Europe, accompanied by "The Millennium Collection for Bute House". For more information about this touring exhibition, please visit the Silver of the Stars website or you can contact the Incorporation Secretary at inc@assay-office.co.uk
The Incorporation has continued to carry out a range of activities through its charitable arm, The Scottish Goldsmiths' Trust including Precious Metal Bursaries and an apprenticeship scheme.
The winner of the Incorporation's Outstanding Scottish Student Award in 2011 was Hazel Thorn from Edinburgh College of Art, who made a sensational goblet with the help of established silversmith Marion Kane. The Outstanding Scottish Student Award is a competition for students to produce a goblet design. The winning student is given the opportunity to make their goblet in partnership with an established silversmith, which then becomes part of the Incorporation's collection.
